Thanksgiving Dinner Report
Our joint effort with the Newport Elks Lodge and the Area Agency on Aging was a great success.
Our operations began on Tuesday evening at the Weller's for the Annual Potato Peeling / Pot Luck Party. Though warned by the border guard that we may not be allowed to bring our finished product across the border on Thanksgiving morning, thanks to the the legal expertise of our own Jim Torrisi, all went fine.
Beyond our contribution of over 80 lbs. of organically-grown Canadian mashed potatoes, First Parish provided table decorations (donated by local florists). We organized and executed the delivery of meals to over 40 shut-ins. It was a wonderful experience for all and we hope to continue this joint community effort in the future.
